DESIGN PROCESS

RENOVATING YOUR HOME DOESN’T HAVE TO BE A HEADACHE WITH RBID GUIDING YOU THROUGH THEIR 5-STEP DESIGN AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESS.

01.

INITIAL SITE VISIT

First things first - we gotta see your digs. An initial site visit is conducted to review the full scope of your project and establish an appropriate design fee. This is a good time for you to lay out all of those wants, needs, hopes and wishes for your home. We need to understand your vision so we can help get you there!

02.

PLANNING

Once we've seen your space and heard your feedback, we're ready to put pen to paper. We first develop a floor plan for the demo and remodel of your existing spaces and/or addition of new spaces. All plans are scaled and dimensioned to be provided to the appropriate trades for implementation. Exterior elevations of an addition or renovation are included, if needed.

03.

DESIGN CONCEPTS

After planning out your new spaces, we source materials, fixtures and finishes to complete the overall look and feel of your home. We pull out all the stops - curating plumbing, lighting, countertops, cabinetry, hardware, millwork, paint, wallcoverings, furniture, lighting, rugs, textiles, soft-goods, art, and accessories to complete the design and decoration of each space.

04.

DESIGN SPECS

After presenting a comprehensive design, and fine tuning it to fit your family perfectly, we complete construction deliverables like scaled interior elevations for placement of all components to complete the space and detailed schedules with spec sheets to serve as a road map for each trade. We meet your contractor and all subs on site to communicate the design plan, collecting costs and bids so that you have a clear understanding of your investment before the first swing of the sledgehammer.

05.

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION

We’ve done a lot of legwork, but the fun is just getting started! As your contractor executes your renovation project, we are your on-site advocate to ensure your dreams are achieved with few road bumps and frustration. We meet with your contractor and subs on site weekly to address any questions, brainstorm solutions and make every effort to maintain the budget and timeline. Working closely as a team with all trades is what guarantees a successful renovation and a beautiful end result.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Renovation services are billed at a flat design fee that is based on the scope of work to be done. A design fee is determined during the initial site visit. Payments for design fees are typically made via the following schedule: 40% with signed Scope of Services agreement, 40% after presentation of design concepts, 10% after presentation of design specs.

  • For renovation projects, we collect a non-refundable deposit of $300 upon scheduling the initial site visit. During the meeting, a project design fee is presented, along with a Scope of Services agreement, for your approval and the $300 deposit is credited towards the total project design fee.

  • No two renovation projects are the same, and therefore design fees are determined based on each project’s scope. Below are examples of fees based on room type. To learn more about what design fee would be associated with your particular project, schedule a call with Rachael to discuss further.

    • Renovation/Addition Planning - Starting at $2200

    • Kitchen - Starting at $10,000

    • Master Bathroom - Starting at $7500

    • Standard Bathroom / Powder Room - Starting at $5000

    • Laundry Room / Mud Room - Starting at $6000

  • Most definitely, we love making new friends! If your project involves working with a new-to-us contractor, RBID will schedule an introductory meeting with your contractor so that each party understands the scope of work to be handled by the other. We’re well versed in the language of construction and have no issue developing new partnerships with contractors and subs.
