Reduce, Reuse, Reupholster

Everyone loves a good ‘before-and-after’ transformation! One of our favorite ways to make an impact in our clients’ homes is to reupholster their existing pieces. We know all too well how styles and tastes can change over the years. If the bones of an upholstery piece are of good quality, and the style of the frame is appropriate, an updated fabric can change the way you view your existing, dated furniture.

We encourage our clients to invest in good quality upholstery pieces that will last them decades, instead of fast-fashion, trendy or inexpensive pieces that aren’t built to last. Though the fabric of an upholstery piece takes on the most wear and tear, if the construction and frame are of good quality, the piece can be reupholstered to provide an impactful update. This keeps furniture out of landfills and in our client’s homes for generations to come - a win-win!

The chair below is a true trash-to-treasure story. I found this chair on the side of the road, left out (in the rain, no less!) for the trash service to haul off. I loved the interesting shape, leg detail, and low height. It seemed worthy of reviving! With a little extra love and attention, it’s ready to brighten up a cozy corner or sitting area.

P.S. This cutie is for sale! Shoot us an email at design@rachaelbellid.com if you’re interested in price or dimensions!
