Updating a Generational Home

It's always a special assignment to be updating a family home. The client obtained this home from their parents, who built it in the late nineties. It's a stately brick home, set a good ways off the road on a beautiful in-town street here in Madison. The home offers plenty of space for this vibrant family of 7! The age of the home required some necessary updates to lighting, plumbing fixtures, paint and flooring throughout, which gave the client the opportunity to make it feel like their own.

Where We Started

The Kitchen in particular boasted solid wood cabinetry and a sufficient layout. However, a facelift was in order to update the appliances, countertops, plumbing and lighting fixtures. We chose to paint the cabinetry a striking deep blue (Outerspace by Sherwin Williams), accented with brass hardware and lighting. White quartz countertops (MSI Fairy White) and a white zellige backsplash kept the room crisp and bright. A sweet roman shade in Schuyler Samperton's Nellcote pattern lends the necessary soft touch to complete the space.
